The Haunted Palace marked the first major theatrical adaptation, with Vincent Price and Roger Corman bringing gothic atmosphere to Lovecraft's Arkham. Re-Animator and From Beyond established Stuart Gordon as the premier interpreter of Lovecraft for the screen, balancing body horror with dark humor. Dagon represents Gordon's most atmospheric and faithful approach to the Innsmouth mythos, while Color Out of Space brought Lovecraft back to mainstream theatrical audiences with Nicolas Cage's unhinged performance.
