Dracula Movies: Nosferatu Films
The Nosferatu lineage represents unauthorized Dracula adaptations and deliberate remakes of the same haunting tale. F.W. Murnau's 1922 silent masterpiece could not legally use Bram Stoker's character names, creating Count Orlok instead, but the Dracula story is unmistakable in this German Expressionist landmark.
Werner Herzog's 1979 remake paid homage to Murnau while adding color and Klaus Kinski's unforgettable performance. Robert Eggers' 2024 version continues this tradition of filmmakers returning to the source material with fresh visual approaches, proving that the tale of the plague-bringing vampire remains endlessly reinterpretable.
