Godzilla Movies - Watch Order: Millennium Era
This Godzilla watch order showcases the experimental 1999-2004 series where most films serve as standalone sequels to the original 1954 masterpiece, ignoring other entries to create fresh takes on the Godzilla concept. The exception is Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla and its direct sequel Tokyo S.O.S., which form their own connected storyline known as the Kiryu Saga within this era.
Each Millennium Era film offers its own interpretation of what Godzilla represents in the modern world, experimenting with everything from military action to mystical guardian spirits. The anthology-like approach provides maximum creative freedom while maintaining connection to the iconic original, making it ideal for viewers who want variety in their kaiju experience without commitment to a long-running storyline.
