Hulk Movies: Release Order

2003 - 20197 Films16h 37m4.3 Average

The Hulk's cinematic journey spans two separate continuities. Hulk (2003), directed by Ang Lee and starring Eric Bana, is a standalone film that explores Bruce Banner's psychological origins but exists outside the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It received mixed reviews and was not continued.

Five years later, the character was rebooted with The Incredible Hulk (2008) as the second film in the MCU, starring Edward Norton. This established Banner as a fugitive scientist pursued by the military. When Mark Ruffalo took over the role in The Avengers, the character found his definitive portrayal: balancing brilliant scientist with controlled rage. The Hulk became a founding Avenger and continued to evolve across multiple ensemble films.
