Left Behind Movies: Modern Timeline
The Modern Timeline of the Left Behind franchise represents a complete series reboot with higher production values and mainstream theatrical releases. The 2014 film stars Nicolas Cage as Rayford Steele, an airline pilot trying to land his plane after passengers vanish during the Rapture, re-telling the story from a more action-oriented perspective.
Left Behind: Rise of the Antichrist (2023) picks up six months later with Kevin Sorbo taking over the role of Rayford Steele. The film adapts the remainder of the first book and sets up the rise of Nicolae Carpathia. With producers now holding rights to all 16 novels, additional sequels in this timeline are possible.
