The Lion King Movies: Release Order
The Lion King franchise began with Disney's famous 1994 animated classic and has expanded across multiple decades with sequels, spin-offs, and a complete reboot. This watch order includes all feature films as they were released to audiences.
The franchise is split into two separate continuities: the original animated timeline (1994-2004) and the live-action reboot timeline (2019-2024). The 2019 film is not a sequel but a photorealistic CGI retelling that establishes its own continuity, with Mufasa as a prequel specifically to that version. The Lion King 1½ is a unique "midquel" that retells the original 1994 film from Timon and Pumbaa's comedic perspective.
There are 2 other watch orders available – see the links up above.
