Rurouni Kenshin Movies: Story Timeline
This chronological watch order of the Rurouni Kenshin franchise starts with The Beginning, a prequel that reveals Kenshin's origin story as the ruthless assassin Battōsai during the final days of the Tokugawa shogunate. The film shows his relationship with Tomoe Yukishiro and the tragic events that led to his iconic X-shaped scar and his vow never to kill again.
Following the story timeline provides a linear narrative flow, although many fans prefer experiencing The Beginning last, because it was designed to enhance appreciation for Kenshin's journey after witnessing his redemption arc. Both viewing approaches offer rewarding experiences, with this chronological order emphasizing the transformation from assassin to protector.
