Tomb Raider Movies: Release Order
The Tomb Raider film series consists of two distinct continuities with no connection between them. The first two films star Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft in stylish, over-the-top adventures filled with ancient artifacts and globe-trotting action. These films embraced a campy, fun tone reminiscent of the original video games.
In 2018, the franchise was completely rebooted with Alicia Vikander taking on the role in a grittier, more grounded origin story based on the 2013 video game reboot. This standalone film has no narrative connection to the Jolie films and presents a younger, less experienced Lara discovering her calling as an adventurer.
