This watch order focuses exclusively on the connected supernatural storyline of Mary Lou Maloney, the vengeful ghost who becomes the central antagonist of the series' only true narrative subseries. These two films shift the franchise from slasher territory into supernatural horror, following Mary Lou's haunting presence and obsessions.

Viewing just these films provides a narrative that stands apart from the anthology nature of the broader franchise. The duology explores Mary Lou's vengeful return and escalating supernatural chaos, with Prom Night III taking on a more comedic and surreal tone while continuing her story directly from II.
