Scooby-Doo Movies: Live-Action Films
The Scooby-Doo franchise made the jump from cartoon to live-action with 2002's Scooby-Doo, directed by Raja Gosnell and written by James Gunn. Starring Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, Matthew Lillard, and Linda Cardellini as the iconic mystery-solving gang, the film brought the beloved cartoon to life with a mix of comedy, horror, and CGI-created Scooby.
While the first film was a box office success, its 2004 sequel Monsters Unleashed performed more modestly, leading to the cancellation of a planned third installment. The standalone direct-to-video film Daphne & Velma focuses on the two female members of the gang in a separate continuity. These live-action adaptations offer a more irreverent, self-aware take on the Scooby-Doo formula.
