Prom Night Movies: Release Order
The Prom Night series functions as an anthology-style franchise centered around the horror of prom night at Hamilton High School, blending classic slasher elements with supernatural and psychological terror. While the films share thematic connections and setting, most entries tell standalone stories with varying tones and approaches to horror.
The series includes the original 1980 slasher, a supernatural subseries featuring the vengeful ghost Mary Lou Maloney (films II and III), a standalone religious horror entry (IV), and a complete reboot in 2008. Note that Prom Night II and III form the only direct narrative connection in the franchise, following Mary Lou's story, while the other films can be enjoyed independently as part of the broader prom night horror anthology.
