Superman Movies: Superman Returns Timeline
Bryan Singer's Superman Returns was conceived as a direct sequel to the first two Christopher Reeve films, deliberately ignoring the events of Superman III and IV. This watch order presents the intended continuity that Singer had in mind when crafting his love letter to Richard Donner's vision.
Brandon Routh's performance pays homage to Reeve's portrayal while exploring themes of legacy and responsibility. Note that this order uses the original theatrical cut of Superman II rather than the Donner Cut, as Returns was made in reference to the films as they existed in the 1980s.
There are 3 other watch orders available – see the links up above.
