The Hills Have Eyes Movies: Release Order
Wes Craven's The Hills Have Eyes is a brutal 1977 cult classic that follows a family stranded in the Nevada desert, hunted by a clan of cannibalistic mutants. The film became a landmark of '70s horror with its raw, unflinching portrayal of survival and savagery.
The 1985 sequel Part II is widely considered one of the worst horror sequels ever made, even disowned by Craven himself, who only made it out of financial desperation. The film is notorious for padding its runtime with flashbacks from the original. After the critical and commercial failure of the remake-in-name-only Mind Ripper was abandoned, the franchise lay dormant until 2006.
Alexandre Aja's 2006 remake was well-received by horror fans for its intense brutality and strong production values, spawning the 2007 sequel written by Wes and Jonathan Craven. This sequel follows National Guard trainees rather than a family and has an entirely different plot from the 1985 film.
