Scary Movie Movies: Release Order
The Scary Movie franchise is a series of horror parodies that began in 2000, spoofing everything from slasher films to popular culture phenomena. Created by the Wayans brothers, the series follows the misadventures of characters like Cindy Campbell and Brenda Meeks as they navigate ridiculous horror movie scenarios.
While the films follow a loose chronological progression, the order isn't particularly important for enjoyment since each movie functions largely as a standalone parody. The first two films were R-rated and directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans, while the later installments shifted to PG-13 ratings under different directors, creating somewhat different comedic tones throughout the series.
After a long hiatus, the Wayans brothers returned to reunite the original Cindy and Brenda for a sixth film, which continues on from the story of the first two films rather than the intervening sequels.
