The Smurfs Movies: Live-Action Films
The live-action Smurfs films blend CGI-animated Smurfs with real-world settings and human characters. Directed by Raja Gosnell, these films follow the tiny blue characters as they're displaced from their magical village into modern New York City, where they befriend the Winslow family.
Neil Patrick Harris and Jayma Mays star as the human leads, while Hank Azaria chews scenery as the villainous wizard Gargamel. The voice cast features celebrity talent including Katy Perry, George Lopez, and Jonathan Winters. While critically mixed, these films found commercial success with their blend of slapstick comedy, heartwarming family dynamics, and references that appeal to both children and nostalgic adults.
