Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Movies: Modern Timeline

2014 - 20162 Films3h 33m3.3 Average

The motion-capture reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles brought the characters into the modern era with cutting-edge visual effects, although the hulking designs of the turtles divided fans. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014) retells the origin story with a darker tone, while the sequel Out of the Shadows course-corrects by embracing the cartoonish fun of the franchise.

The second film also introduces fan-favorite characters like Casey Jones, Bebop and Rocksteady, and the villain Krang, finally bringing these elements from the classic animated series to the big screen. While the duology underperformed commercially - leading to the cancellation of a planned third film - it represents a complete narrative arc within its own continuity.
